Dial a ride is a door-to-door transport service for disabled people who live in one of the London Boroughs and must register as a user. South East London Dial-a-Ride is a registered charity, its aims are:- The provision of transport for people with disabilities in South East London. In 1974 London Transport introduced an experimental 'Dial-a-bus' service with the financial backing of the Greater London Council, between Golders Green Station and Hampstead Garden Suburb. This service was introduced to test the need for a 'personal' bus with passengers telephoning a central control point for a bus and being picked up and set down as near as possible to their front doors.
