Thorntree Road, Charlton


Stagecoach 34375x as it crests the hill in Thorntree Road, Charlton on route 380. Thorntree Road separates Maryon Park from Maryon Wilson Park. The Mayron Wilson's were one time owners of Charlton House.

Stagecoach 34378 on route 380. Thorntree Road was at one time called Hanging Wood Lane, Named after the Wood which used to bear the same name. It was used as a hide out for highwaymen who plied their trade on the old Dover Road at Shooters Hill. It was  named for the Gibbet which stood hereabouts on which said highwaymen were  hanged.
