View from a Bridge

East Thames DWL 34 on route 108 passing under the railway bridge in Westcombe Hill. The pathway on the right leads to Westcombe Park station.

Untill the A102 was built Westcombe Hill was the main road from Blackheath to Greenwich. The lower part of the road is now called Farmdale Road, it was cut in half by the building of the A102.

Arriva 3272 on route 286 in Westcombe Hill on the way to Sidcup. The 286 replaced part of the 108a between Greenwich and Eltham. It was then extended to cover the 228 from Eltham to Sidcup.

Before the A102 was built traffic for Blackwall Tunnel would queue in this road and through Greenwich if there was a problem in the tunnel playing havoc with bus services in the area. Now traffic queues on the flyover.

London Central PVL 13 on route 422 just passed under the Westcombe Hill railway bridge. These photographs were taken from the footbridge over the A102 and Westcombe Hill. This bridge leads from Farmdale Road to Westcombe Park station. For those who watch East Enders, this is the bridge from which Andy Hunter met his end.
