A Trident on route 53 crosses Blackheath in the snow on 25 February
2005 The bandstand like structure is a memorial to Andrew Gibb, one of
the first Aldermen of the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich. When he died
in 1908 provision was made in his will for a drinking fountain to be built.
The money was sufficient for not only this, but for a shelter as well.
It was erected here adjacent to an Omnibus stopping place.

This view is of Charlton Way, alongside the wall of Greenwich Park.
The Andrew Gibb Memorial can be seen just in front of the bus. The flags
are to support London's bid for the 2012 Olympic games.
