Downe

RT 1538. KGU 298. Seen on route 146 outside Down Church. Of note is the policeman with a pedal cycle, something not to be seen today. Route 146 ran from Bromley North via Bromley South, Hayes, and Keston. It still runs today but sadly no longer with RT buses.

It may interest you both to know I am the copper in the picture outside Downe Church. I was one of two remaining police cyclists in the Metropolitan Police area. I kept pedalling until my retirement in 1982 and the other cyclist retired after me.  Our replacements did not have
bikes.
