D70. LC 5007. on Vanguards service 24 looking very similar to todays
route. This one looks like Victoria to Hampstead. Now it goes to Pimlico. Michael Wadman says: I was browsing your site and noticed the interesting photo of Milnes-Daimler LC5007 outside Victoria station onwhich you suggest dates from the 'twenties. I think that it was actually somewhat older than that. Route 24 started on 5th May 1910 but the Milnes-Daimlers were all replaced by B Types during 1911 and 1912. Vanguard itself had been taken over by the LGOC (who allocated the fleet number D70 - Vanguard didn't use them) in 1908. |
Service 38 at Victoria Station forcourt. The route looks similar to
todays, but it is extended from Clapton Pond to Epping Forest. Michael also says of this picture: Of the second photo on that page, AN 440 was a Staker-Squire new to the Great Eastern London Suburban Tramways & Omnibus Co Ltd, who were taken over by the LGOC in 1911. |
